According to CalcioMercato, Southampton are keeping an eye on 18-year-old Anderlecht teenage talent Marco Kana.

The youngster, who can play as either a midfielder or as a centre-back, looks like he could be the next big talent to come out of Belgium, and a move to St Mary’s could be his launching pad.

Experts, pundits and journalists can’t say enough good things about Kana, and he has had the perfect mentor over in Belgium, playing under Vincent Kompany at Anderlecht.

Kompany reportedly sees a young version of himself in Kana, and if the teenager can become even half as good as the Manchester City legend was, then Southampton may have a real player on their hands.

Nobody needs reminding what Kompany did in England, he was a four-time Premier League winning captain and one of the best defenders in the league during his time in Manchester.

Of course, much like Kana, Kompany started out as a midfielder before moving back into the defence, and Kana can also play in either of those roles.

Kompany also seems to see the teenager as a future leader, handing him the captain’s armband during pre-season despite being just 18 years old.

Whether or not Southampton formalise their interest remains to be seen, but it seems as though they may be tracking a very exciting talent here, and Saints fans may want to cross their fingers and hope that Ralph Hasenhuttl lands his man.
