Southampton have been credited with a ‘firm interest’ in signing Argentine impact striker Guido Carrillo from Ligue 1 winners AS Monaco.

According to Sky Sports, the 26-year-old valued at around £15m and is well known to Pellegrino having played under him back in Argentina during his two-year spell in charge of Estudiantes.
Carrillo has been described as the ‘definition of an impact player’ by French media and has scored 20 goals in over 50 appearances for Monaco since signing from Estudiantes two years ago.

Saints have a huge problem on their hands now in that every club they go to for players knows they are cash rich.
Fans are not happy with Pellegrino and are expecting reinvestment in the team this month but it could make for a perfect storm.
Saints have scored just 21 league goals this season and Carrillo offers something different to their current forward line.
