The Saints are reportedly eager to sell the club-record flop, who spent last season away from St Mary’s on loan.

It looks as though Guido Carrillo’s future at Southampton is all but over but the Saints seem to be playing hardball over the striker’s signature amid interest from Spanish club Leganes, according to AS.
The 28-year-old joined the Saints from Monaco in January 2018 for a club record fee believed to be worth £19million, according to BBC Sport, but he has failed to make an impact at the Premier League club.
According to Transfermarkt, Carrillo – who currently earns £30,000 per week according to Capology – as made just 10 appearances in all competitions for Southampton, seven of which were starts, for a total of 624 minutes of action in the red and white stripes and, critically, has failed to get on the scoresheet.
At the time of writing on Tuesday morning, the first-team page on the Saints website does not even feature the Argentine, who spent 2018-19 at Leganes, and according to AS, they would like his services on loan once again.

However, it is reported that Southampton want to offload Carrillo permanently and recoup “a good part” of their investment on him, which the outlet claims has made things difficult for Leganes – managed by former Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino – in terms of their pursuit given their interest in another loan.
Given that Southampton have also signed Che Adams this summer, plus Saints academy star Michael Obafemi being tipped for great things at St Mary’s, this means Carrillo’s time is surely up at the club – but the Saints don’t seem as though they will simply write off the failed investment.
