Premier League duo Southampton and Burnley are reportedly going head-to-head for Birmingham City’s 14-goal Championship striker.
Southampton are expected to outbid Burnley for the coveted Birmingham City striker Che Adams this month, according to The Sun.
Adams has been in terrific form for Garry Monk’s Blues this season, scoring 14 Championship goals and establishing himself as a fearsome centre-forward after making his name as a lively winger at Sheffield United.
The Mirror reported on Tuesday that Southampton and Burnley are both interested and are willing to offer him a substantial increase in his wages with a £35,000 a week contract.
Birmingham are looking for £15 million with The Saints having failed earlier in the window with a bid of £8 million.
But, according to The Sun, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side are expected to raise their bid and offer more than a Burnley side who have not signed a single player during the January transfer window.
The report adds that Southampton will need to move Charlie Austin out of St Mary’s before they make a renewed effort to sign Adams, however, though there will be no lack of interest in a 29-year-old striker who has the potential to score plenty of goals at Premier League level.
