Reported West Ham United and Southampton target Jovane Cabral is expected to commit his future to Sporting Lisbon with talks over a new contract progressing nicely, according to A Bola.
Sporting may be one of Europe’s most successful ‘selling clubs’ but do not make the mistake in assuming every single one of their players is available at any given moment.
After selling Wendel to Zenit St Petersburg for £20 million, the Lisbon lions have no immediate need to cash in on a winger who burst onto the scene last season.
Jovane, a right-footed left winger who loves to cut inside and fire long-range shots at goal, was a target for a number of Premier League clubs over the summer and, according to A Bola, West Ham and Southampton are watching closely with the January window just two months ago.
The Hammers and the Saints will probably need to look elsewhere if they want to add some depth to their forward line however.
A Bola reports that the £23 million-rated Jovane is in talks to sign a new long-term contract until 2025.

The Cape Verde international currently has a £55 million release clause and earns a somewhat paltry £2,500-a-week.
Both figures are expected to rise substantially if Jovane puts pen to paper in the near future.
The publication adds that both parties are still yet to agree the extend of a salary increase, but Sporting are confident that a compromise can be reached with all the signs now suggesting that Jovane will still for the long haul.
