Southampton and West Ham United are reportedly keen on Julian Korb.

According to German newspaper Kicker, Southampton and West Ham United are both keen on signing Borussia Monchengladbach defender Julian Korb.

Korb, 24, has come up through the ranks with Gladbach having joined the club as a teenager from German rivals MSV Duisburg, and he’s now racked up more than 160 appearances for the club across spells with the first team and the B side.

Primarily a right back, Korb has mostly been a squad player for Gladbach over the years, and he’s started just 12 games in all competitions this season, making a total 17 appearances.

Now, German newspaper Kicker report that Korb is attracting interest during this month’s transfer window, as Southampton and West Ham United are believed to be keen on signing him.

It’s stated that both teams have been watching Korb closely in recent months, and now have a ‘great interest’ in bringing to the Premier League this month.

Southampton have seen Cedric impress this season, but with summer signing Jeremy Pied set to miss most of the season, manager Claude Puel may look to bring in Korb, with his versatility to play at centre back also appealing.

Meanwhile, West Ham’s second half display against Crystal Palace with Sam Byram at right back showed what they can do with four at the back, and Korb would offer better competition at right back than recent signing Alvaro Arbeloa.

Factor in that Korb’s former Borussia Monchengladbach team-mate Havard Nordtveit is already at the club, and the German could be a smart signing for the Hammers, if they can beat Southampton to his signature.
