Southamoton, Brighton and Norwich City are queuing up to bring Eredivisie hotshot Giorgios Giakoumakis to England during the summer transfer window, as reported by TEAMtalk.
Before moving to VVV Venlo from AEK Athens last August, the Greek striker had scored just 25 goals in 148 career appearances.
It’s safe to assume, then, that no one saw this coming.
Giakoumakis has gone from an unknown prospect to one of the most prolific strikers in European football in the blinking of an eye, finding the net at a rate that would leave even Cristiano Ronaldo speechless at relegation-threatened VVV.
In all competitions, the rangy number nine has scored 27 times in 29 matches, hitting a stunning hat-trick past Emmen on his Eredivisie debut before producing four-goal hauls against both ADO Den Haag and Vitesse Arnhem.
As a result, it looks distinctly unlikely that Giakoumakis will still be plying his trade at struggling VVV for a second season.

TEAMtalk reports that Southampton and Brighton have been watching the late-blooming 26-year-old closely.
Norwich, meanwhile, have identified Giakoumakis as one of their top summer targets as they prepare for life back in the Premier League.
According to Greek publication Gazzeta, Birmingham City failed with a bid in the region of £4 million for this unexpected goal-machine during the January transfer window.
It remains to be seen how much VVV will demand when the summer market begins.
