According to the Daily Mail, Southampton are interested in signing Arsenal attacker Folarin Balogun after he was told he can leave.
Goal claimed on Monday that Arsenal have told Balogun he can go, having failed to agree a new contract with the teenage striker.
Balogun’s contract expires in 2021, meaning Arsenal now want to sell this summer in order to stop him from leaving for nothing in a year’s time.
Brentford failed with a £5million bid in January, and Southampton are now believed to have joined the race for his signature.
AC Milan are also interested, with Ivan Gazidis potentially plotting a move to raid his former club for their teenage goalscorer.
It may not be about money for Balogun. The 18-year-old has hit 10 goals and four assists in 15 Premier League 2 games this season, but seems some way from the Arsenal first-team setup.

Southampton may be able to offer Balogun the playing time he’s looking for, and the Saints have been a great home for young players to develop for many years now.
Whether Arsenal will manage to get £5million on the table again remains to be seen, but interest in Balogun is mounting as he seemingly prepares to leave North London.
