According to The Express, Southampton are keen on taking Liverpool attacker Daniel Sturridge on loan with a view to a huge £25m permanent move.
The Saints played out a 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Saturday afternoon, with Claude Puel’s side doing a great job of slowing down Liverpool’s swashbuckling attack.
Now, reports suggest that Southampton could make a move for one player who featured as a substitute in Saturday’s game, with Daniel Sturridge being linked.
Sturridge, 27, only played 12 minutes on Saturday, which summed up how frustrating this season has been for the England ace. With just four Premier League starts to his name this term, Sturridge has become something of a misfit under Jurgen Klopp, triggering rumours over his future.

The Express now claim that Southampton want to take Sturridge on loan to judge his fitness before committing to a permanent deal which would cost around £25m.
Manager Claude Puel has gone with a diamond system for large spells of this season, and Sturridge thrived in that system under Brendan Rodgers during Liverpool’s push for the Premier League title in 2014.

Sturridge may now be lined up for a similar role under Puel, but a £25m deal doesn’t seem like something Southampton would do, as they primarily go for bargain deals and sensible spending rather than splashing huge money on big-name players.
Whilst Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane have all gone from Southampton to Liverpool, we could now see Sturridge make the opposite move if reports are to be believed, with the Saints looking to land Sturridge to boost their struggling attack.
