Sources close to Rodrigo De Paul don’t believe that Leeds United will be making a bid for him any time soon, according to the Athletic.
De Paul was heavily linked with Leeds in the summer, but Marcelo Bielsa’s interest in the midfielder was apparently only tentative.
Leeds reportedly did make an approach for Udinese, but were soon put off by the £35 million price that the Italian side were demanding (Daily Mirror).
The fact that Leeds turned their back on De Paul so quickly in the summer means that there is now a feeling that the Whites won’t return for the midfielder this month, despite them looking in a strong position to establish themselves a Premier League club.
Leeds should, theoretically, have more money to spend in the coming transfer windows, after the influx of money they have received through playing in the top flight.
However, Leeds insiders apparently play down the chances of a deal being struck for De Paul, and the transfer now seems a highly unlikely one.

That may be a disappointing piece of news for the Elland Road crowd, as the Argentine could have been an appealing addition for them.
De Paul is a hugely talented midfielder, who has the natural energy and creativity required to fit into Bielsa’s system.
But it seems that Leeds will have to look at alternative targets, as they assess their options to improve their midfield.
