According to the Sunday World, RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate would ‘relish’ the chance to play for Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

It’s claimed that Konate is emerging as a key target for the Reds, with a deal worth £34million potentially in the pipeline for this summer.

Konate is thought to be interested in making the move to Anfield, with sources close to the defender hinting that he fancies playing for Klopp.

Liverpool did bring in Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak on deadline day last month, but a big-money centre back addition could still arrive.

Davies only cost £1.6million and has yet to feature, whilst Kabak is only on loan from Schalke and may yet return to the Bundesliga.

Konate could be a more long-term solution for Liverpool, having the potential to truly challenge Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk when they return from injury.

The 21-year-old has impressed since joining Leipzig in 2017, but has been through plenty of injury issues himself during his time in Germany.

Konate, who stands at 6ft 4in tall, does tick boxes for Liverpool, but whether Leipzig would sell him having already agreed to sell Dayot Upamecano to Bayern Munich remains to be seen.
