Newcastle United will be hoping to enjoy a January window that proves to be as successful as the one they had in 2018.

And heading into January, many of the Toon Army are probably expecting that longstanding record to remain intact by the time the window shuts with Benitez often having to look at potential bargains during his time in charge.
However, it appears that there may be reason for optimism for the Newcastle fans. The Chronicle is reporting that sources have told them that the club could be willing to break their transfer record with Benitez set to receive funds to spend.

Of course, many Magpies fans will probably reserve judgement until it is confirmed that Owen is no longer their most expensive buy, but the apparent willingness to spend some much more serious money could be exciting.
Benitez has arguably worked wonders to register a top-half finish in his only full top flight season in charge on Tyneside, and he had taken them out of the bottom three heading into this international break.
If he is given a lot more freedom with how much money he can spend, then perhaps Newcastle stand a much better chance of realising their full potential as a club.
