Lille central defender Gabriel’s dream is to play for Arsenal, according to The Daily Star.

The report has quoted a source close to the Brazilian defender as saying that the youngster’s ‘dream’ is ‘to play in the Premier League – for Arsenal’.

According to The Daily Star, the 22-year-old is desperate to join the Gunners, who are on the verge of signing the 22-year-old from Lille for £27 million.

Gabriel made 23 starts and one substitute appearance in Ligue 1 for Lille last season, scoring one goal in the process, according to WhoScored.

The left-footed central defender also played six times in the Champions League for the French club in 2019-20, according to WhoScored.

Good signing for Arsenal?

Although Arsenal have quite a few central defenders on their books at the moment, head coach Mikel Arteta could do with a left-footed centre-back such as Gabriel.

The 22-year-old has developed well in recent years, and the Brazilian youngster will get better and improve in the coming years.

The North London outfit will be aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table next season.
