Newcastle United’s Spanish speaking players are said to be behind the appointment of Mikel Arteta, who is currently working at Manchester City.

According to The Sun, some of Newcastle United’s players would like Mikel Arteta to be appointed to replace Rafael Benitez.

Newcastle are on the look out for a new manager following the departure of Benitez earlier this week.

There is a growing unrest at St. James’ Park, with some of Newcastle’s key players now considering their futures.

But it seems that Arteta holds support in the dressing room.

The Sun claim that Newcastle’s Spanish speaking players would love Arteta to join.

The likes of Ayoze Perez, Miguel Almiron and Javier Manquillo could all be behind the potential appointment of the Manchester City coach.

Arteta is considered to be one of the most promising up-and-coming managers in football.

However, he has no experience and his appointment would be a risk for Newcastle.

The Magpies job is far from an easy one, and with emotions running high at St. James’ Park, it would be a tough task for any rookie boss to walk into to Newcastle and be successful.
