There are some doubts at Everton forming around appointing Nuno Espirito Santo, the Athletic say.
The ex-Wolves boss quickly became the favourite to takeover at Everton following Carlo Ancelotti’s departure.
However, the Athletic’s latest update expresses some doubt over whether the Portuguese boss will be picked to take over at Goodison Park.
While Nuno does have some admirers on Everton’s board, the report claims there are also some doubters – suggesting that there is a split in opinion over his credentials.
Concerns justified?
The Athletic don’t say what the reasons over Everton’s doubts are, but it is likely to come down to Wolves’ style of play.
For all their success, Wolves weren’t particularly flamboyant under Nuno.
Their latest season was also rather disappointing, although injuries to key attacking players did not help their cause.

Nuno, in the main, did an excellent job at Molineux – and even guided them into the Europa League for a stage, after helping them earn promotion.
Everton’s ambitions are vast though, and Nuno certainly isn’t in the same calibre of manager as Ancelotti was.
Ancelotti is one of the highest profile managers and his appointment at Everton really proved their ambition.
It now remains to be seen whether Everton will go back in the market for another proven boss, or if they will decide to find a more up-and-coming boss, which is the category that Nuno would fit under.
