According to The Athletic, some people at Newcastle United have reservations about Steve Bruce’s switch to a 4-3-1-2 system.
The Magpies were hammered 3-0 away at Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend, turning in a truly torrid display.
Newcastle were second best from the first whistle to the last, and being so far short of a relegation rival set alarm bells ringing.
Bruce somehow managed to cling onto his job despite this latest defeat, with Newcastle now having won just twice in their last 18 games.
Bruce is currently rolling with a 4-3-1-2 system, utilising Miguel Almiron as a number 10 behind Ryan Fraser and Joelinton.
It’s now claimed that some within St James’ Park don’t think this is the right approach, and could push for him to re-think.

Bruce is somewhat hampered by the absences of Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson, reducing his attacking options.
The duo could return against Spurs, and that may prompt Bruce into a change with Newcastle seemingly unimpressed.
