According to The Sun, Manchester United have joined the race for Real Madrid talent Martin Odegaard, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen on a move.

The Red Devils haven’t impressed going forward this season, and Solskjaer needs to find players who can add a spark of creativity in the final third.

Whether that’s a number 10 or another wide man, United need to be lining up attacking talents who can revolutionise Solskjaer’s side – and he’s looking to one of his compatriots.

It’s claimed that United have joined the battle for Odegaard, who is currently impressing out on loan at La Liga side Real Sociedad, and Solskjaer is ready to take on Arsenal for his signature.

Solskjaer will be familiar with the Norwegian talent, who was tipped to become the next big thing when he was playing first-team football for Stromsgodset at the age of just 15.

Since leaving Norway, former wonderkid Odegaard has struggled to break through with Real Madrid, which left some to wonder whether he could be the latest lost talent.

However, strong loan spells at Heerenveen and Vitesse earned him a loan switch to Sociedad, and he has been reborn under Imanol Alguacil with two goals and two assists in seven appearances.

As a hero of Norwegian football, Solskjaer may well feel that his influence can give United the upper hand over Arsenal in the pursuit of Odegaard, though Manchester City are also keen on a £25million deal.

A Premier League move seems likely for Odegaard, and Arsenal and United may be able to offer similar playing time, so that Solskjaer influence may well be vital.
