The West Ham United manager made Srna captain of Croatia.

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic is eyeing a reunion with Darjo Srna at the London Stadium, according to the Daily Star.

Bilic made Srna his Croatia captain in 2009 and the report claims the pair have been in regular contact.

Right-back has proved a problem area for the Hammers this season, with winger Michail Antonio often filling in there due to Sam Byram’s injury and Bilic’s reluctance to use Alvaro Arbeloa, who looks set to leave this winter.

Though 34, Srna would almost certainly improve the relegation-threatened side, having won nine domestic titles, appeared numerous times in the Champions League and won 134 caps for his country.

The Shakhtar Donetsk star’s contract expires in June and the Daily Star reports he could be available for a nominal fee next month. However, Spanish giants Barcelona are also said to want him as back up to Sergi Roberto.

Were Srna to move to West Ham, he would be the second of Bilic’s former Croatia players to follow him to east London, after Nikica Jelavic, who is no longer at the club.

The report adds that the Hammers boss is continuing to track a potential third in Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic.
