Manchester City are now in a ‘strong position’ to sign Danny Ings, just two years after Jurgen Klopp sold him at Liverpool, Sky Sports claim.
Liverpool offloaded Ings permanently in 2019, after the striker failed to break into the starting line-up at Anfield.
The 28-year-old has since gone from strength to strength, and Sky now claim he is a potential replacement for Sergio Aguero at City.
Seeing him join City could now hurt Liverpool, given he was once their player, and he would add further depth to Pep Guardiola’s side’s options.
Ings could also have been a useful player for Klopp’s side right now, given their attacking struggles this season.

The England international has hit 30 goals in 60 appearances for Southampton in the Premier League over the last two campaigns.
And there is now a real chance that he does move on to join City in the summer.
Sky say that Pep Guardiola’s side are in a good position to land him because he has just one-year left on his contract at Southampton, meaning the Saints’ bargaining power is severely reduced.
