Mikel Arteta is ‘intent’ on making sure Dani Ceballos is an Arsenal player again next season, according to Sky Sports.

Ceballos spent last season on loan at Arsenal, but he has since returned to Real Madrid with no permanent deal agreed.

It seems that Madrid and Arsenal are some way apart in their valuation of the midfielder, and any long-term transfer won’t be happening this summer.

However, a loan move is a real possibility, as Arteta really wants the 24-year-old to be a part of his squad.

Ceballos proved his value to Arsenal towards the end of last campaign, when he formed an excellent partnership with Granit Xhaka in midfield.

The Spaniard is said to be keen to move back to the Emirates Stadium too, with a deal looking possible.

Arsenal still have work to do to get the transfer over the line though, and Ceballos will train with Madrid over pre-season in the meantime.

If Arsenal can bring back Ceballos it seems likely that he will go straight back into their starting line-up next term.

However, Arteta does seemingly want to have more competition for places in middle of the park next season, with the Gunners on the hunt to buy a new central midfielder this summer.
