Everton are eyeing up the signings of a central midfielder and a left-footed winger, and Carlo Ancelotti’s side are willing to spend £40 million to get them over the line, according to Sky Sports.

Everton have come up short again this season, with the Toffees finishing in 12th place in the Premier League table.

Despite some heavy investment in recent times Everton’s squad has shown real signs of weakness over the past campaign.

In midfield in particular, Ancelotti’s has struggled to find a reliable duo.

Everton have already been linked with Pierre Emile Hojbjerg, but it seems that he is more likely to move to Tottenham.

The Toffees still think that a double swoop could be key though, and are willing to spend the bulk of their budget on getting it done.

Sky claim that Ancelotti wants a left-footed winger and an energetic number eight, as he looks to find a way to help Everton up the table next term.
