Newcastle’s second string is set to undergo a summer revamp.
The sextet of players are all out of contract at the end of the season, with the Toon making the decision early to offload the stars despite only one of them being given any first-team football at Newcastle.
Newcastle will be letting go of four defenders in Curtis Good, Stuart Findlay, Kyle Cameron and Macauley Gillesphey, while attacking midfielder Mackenzie Heaney and striker Tom Heardman will also be thrown on the scrapheap.
Australia international Good, 25, has featured for the Toon’s first time just two times since moving to St. James’ Park from his home country in 2012. The Daily Star is claiming he earns £12,000 a week.
Findlay has been on loan with Steve Clarke’s Kilmarnock, which could see a permanent move materialise, as the former Celtic defender continues to impress in any position in Killie’s back four.
Similarly, Cameron is currently on loan at Scottish Championship side Queen of the South since moving north of the border in January. Heaney, Heardman and Gillesphie have remained on Tyneside in Dawson’s second string.
But with all six set to leave the club this summer, Dawson will be tasked in bringing a handful of Newcastle’s Under-18 side through into the reserves with a view of breaking into the first team proper.
