Six Championship clubs want Rekeem Harper on loan but, according to the Birmingham Mail, the midfielder will only go when West Bromwich Albion have found a replacement.

Filip Krovinovic is not the only talented play-maker who could return to England’s second-tier before the month is out.

While the classy Croatian is a target for Nottingham Forest, 20-year-old Harper has a throng of admirers in the Championship; although the identity of those many suitors remains a mystery for the time being.

Harper has played just half an hour of Premier League football this season.

And there is an acceptance that the Birmingham-born youngster would benefit from a short-term spell away from The Hawthorns, especially as Sam Allardyce is unlikely to throw an untested youngster in at the deep end in the midst of a grueling relegation battle.

The Mail reports that half a dozen Championship clubs have expressed an interest.

West Brom will only let Harper go, however, after they have reinforced their engine room with a new signing or two.

Turkey international Ozan Tufan, Leicester’s Hamza Choudhury and Preston North End dynamo Ben Pearson have all been linked with the Baggies in recent weeks.

Harper did offer a timely reminder of his talents during September’s 3-0 EFL Cup victory over Harrogate Town, thrashing a long-range stunner into the corner.
