According to the Peterborough Telegraph, Rangers and Celtic target Siriki Dembele has submitted a transfer request to leave Peterborough United.
It’s claimed that Dembele is citing personal reasons and a desire to play at a higher level as the justification for his request.
Peterborough paid just £200,000 to sign Dembele from Grimsby Town in 2018, and would now demand way above £2million for him.
Co-owner Darragh MacAnthony has confirmed the story on Instagram, stating that he woke up on Sunday to Dembele’s transfer request.
He noted that it’s all Dembele’s agent’s doing, and that Peterborough won’t sell on the cheap this month, suggesting that he will be kept at the club unless a hefty fee is paid.
The 24-year-old has been impressive this season, bagging five goals and five assists in 17 League One games, dazzling defences with his pace and dribbling ability.

Peterborough’s Barry Fry told the Peterborough Telegraph on Christmas Eve that both Rangers and Celtic want to sign Dembele, so they should be very interested in this latest development.
Dembele once lived in Govan and attended school in Glasgow, so heading there could be part of his personal reasoning for leaving Peterborough – which would play right into Celtic and Rangers’ hands.
