The West Ham United forward hasn’t had the impact that Slaven Bilic would have expected following his arrival at the club last summer.

A report emanating from France this morning claims that Hammers forward Andre Ayew is angling for a move back to his former club Marseille this summer, with the Ligue 1 outfit believed to be pushing hard to sign the Ghanaian, according to French media outlet France Football.

The 27-year-old moved to West Ham from Swansea City last summer, for a fee believed to be in the region of £20.5 million, but has failed to establish himself as an important member of Shaven Bilic’s starting XI, scoring just six goals in 25 Premier League outings.

Many Hammers fans believed their club paid way too much for Ayew in the first place, and his underwhelming performances during this season just gone have leant credence to that notion, although it must be taken into account that he suffered a serious injury during his debut for the club, which subsequently kept him out for around 10 weeks.

Following his struggles with West Ham, France Football claim that the former Swansea man is growing tired of his situation at the London Stadium, and wants to emulate Dimitri Payet by making the switch back to the Stade Velodrome.

If the rumours prove to be true, there will not be too many Hammers fans who will be sad to see the back of Ayew, especially with the French club willing to pay up to £30 million to secure his services (the Mirror).

Bilic could then reinvest that money back into the playing squad, and help improve his options ahead of next season.
