Newcastle United have sent Siem De Jong out on loan to PSV Eindhoven this season.

According to the Chronicle, Siem De Jong will get another chance to prove his worth at Newcastle United next season.

De Jong has become Newcastle’s forgotten man, after failing to make an impact since moving to St. James’ Park back in 2014.

A series of injuries have stopped the Dutch international from impressing at Newcastle, and he was loaned out to PSV Eindhoven at the start of this campaign.

The 29-year-old has been in good form in the Eredivisie, where he has hit five goals in 14 games from a midfield position.

And Rafael Benitez has reportedly seen enough in De Jong to suggest that he could have a future at Newcastle.

Benitez apparently will now give De Jong a chance to prove his worth in pre-season, as he looks to develop his squad for next campaign.

Newcastle are also hoping to keep Aleksandar Mitrovic next term, despite his struggles this season.

Mitrovic has slipped to Newcastle’s third choice striker, but is reportedly willing to stay at St. James’ Park.
