Villa are on the lookout for new additions as Tim Sherwood looks to bolster his squad for next season and Carroll has reportedly emerged as a potential target.
The 22-year-old, who has spent this season on loan at Swansea City, could be made available by Spurs this summer and Sherwood would seemingly like to bring him to Villa Park.
Sherwood worked with Carroll during his time at White Hart Lane earlier in his career and the 46-year-old may feel the deep-lying playmaker would be a good addition at Villa Park.

There has been great hope about Carroll’s future at Spurs, but his chances of breaking through at White Hart Lane are starting to look slim.
It means that a fresh start could be required, and Villa Park looks an appealing place to play football at the moment.
Villa have improved considerably under Sherwood’s leadership and they appear to be a club heading in the right direction.
If Carroll did move to Villa he would have the likes of Carlos Sanchez, Ashley Westwood and Fabian Delph to compete with for a place in the starting line-up, but his technical ability could make him an appealing addition for the Midlands outfit.
