Sheffield Wednesday striker Lucas Joao is reportedly on Bristol City’s radar this summer.

According to a report from the Bristol Post, Sheffield Wednesday striker Lucas Joao is on Bristol City’s radar this summer as Lee Johnson looks to strengthen his attacking options.
Joao enjoyed his most prolific campaign yet since joining the Owls last season, with the Portuguese scoring 10 goals in the Championship from 31 appearances as Wednesday registered a mid-table finish.
The Sun on Sunday (7/4; page 61) reported ahead of the summer that Wednesday were willing to sell Joao, as long as they were offered £8 million. But it appears that his reported asking price is not putting some of the club’s second tier rivals off.
The Bristol Post reports that the Robins want the 25-year-old and have been joined by several of their Championship rivals in the running for his signature. It is not clear however, how close City would be willing to go to Joao’s asking price.

It would be a surprise if Johnson’s men were happy to pay that sort of fee. Joao has scored 28 goals in 127 league appearances since arriving in England, so City will surely want to agree a much lower fee than what Wednesday reportedly want.
But given that the interest in Joao is reportedly coming from their divisional rivals, it also seems unlikely that Wednesday will be overly willing to lower their asking price, even if they are open to the idea of letting him leave Hillsborough this summer.
