The Senegalese winger has struggled for form and fitness at Hillsborough.

Reports in Portugal are suggesting Sheffield Wednesday winger Modou Sougou is already in the country finalising his exit from Hillsborough.

A Bola is reporting that Sougou is in Moreira de Conegos finalising the details of a loan move to the Primeira Liga side. They are currently 14th in the Portuguese top-flight and are looking to rise up the table after a good run of recent form.

Sougou knows Portuguese football well. The Sheffield Wednesday winger spent much of his early career in Portugal with the likes of Uniao Leiria, Vitoria Setubal and Academica.

The Senegal international arrived in Yorkshire in 2015, signed by Carlos Carvalhal.

But he has struggled to establish himself on the English game. He scored on his debut for the club but has suffered with form and fitness since.

His last appearance for Sheffield Wednesday came in the EFL Cup back in August, as Wednesday were defeated by Cambridge United in the competition.

Sougou, who is now 32-years-old, will be looking to play regular football in the advent of his career and it may be that a move back to Portugal is best for all parties.
