Sheffield Wednesday are among the clubs interested in signing Dion Sanderson from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer transfer window, according to The Express & Star.

Wednesday want to secure the services of the 20-year-old defender on a season-long loan deal, according to the report.

Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town want the youngster on a similar deal, and so do Cardiff City, according to the report, with the youngster having spent the second half of last season on loan at the Bluebirds.

The young defender made nine starts and one substitute appearances in the Championship for the Bluebirds last season, according to WhoScored.

Leaving Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan

Sanderson is a very good and promising young defender who can operate as a central defender, full-back or wing-back.

Wolves are a very ambitious club who will be aiming for the Champions League places next season, and it is hard to see the youngster get much playing time at the Molineux Stadium in 2020-21.

It would make sense for the 20-year-old to leave Wolves and join a club in the Championship on loan for next season, as that would help in his development and progress as a footballer.
