A report has linked the Owls with a move for the winger, once of rivals Sheffield United.
Cotterill was a key man for Birmingham last season
Sheffield Wednesday are being linked with a move for Birmingham City winger David Cotterill – who used to play for the Owls’ city rivals United.
Wednesday, who lost to Hull City in last month’s Championship play-off final, are keen to build a side capable of going the distance next season and the capture of Cotterill could go some way towards achieving that.
The Wales international, who could face England in Lens on Thursday, scored four goals and assisted six in 28 league appearances for Birmingham last season.

Despite this, he could be allowed to leave St. Andrew’s for as little as £1.1 million this summer due to a clause in his contract – one which Wales Online reports the Owls could be about to take advantage of.
Cotterill, who the report claims is also interesting Reading, previously spent two years in the Steel City as a Sheffield United player.
The Cardiff-born wide man arrived at Bramall Lane from Premier League side Wigan Athletic in February 2008, on an initial loan deal which was made permanent that summer.

During his stay in Sheffield 2, Cotterill appeared three times against Wednesday, but was on the winning side just once.
He later moved to Swansea City, with whom he was promoted to top flight in 2011, before further spells in South Yorkshire with Doncaster Rovers and Barnsley.
