Sheffield Wednesday have reportedly looked to price Norwich City out of a move for Jordan Rhodes.
According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (26/5; page 69), Sheffield Wednesday have decided that they want £7 million for Jordan Rhodes in an attempt to steer Norwich away from a move for the striker.
Rhodes has spent the season on loan at Carrow Road. He was overshadowed by Teemu Pukki during his time for Daniel Farke’s men, but managed to bag six league goals as the Canaries won the Championship title.
The Sun on Sunday (26/5; page 69) suggests that Farke wants to keep the Scotland international ahead of their return to the Premier League, but it appears that the Owls are determined to keep him at Hillsborough.
The report claims that Wednesday have set a £7 million asking price for the 29-year-old in an attempt to put Norwich off making a permanent move.
It remains to be seen what Norwich will decide to do, but it must be noted that The Pink Un recently claimed that a future fee had already been negotiated when the loan deal was agreed.
If Wednesday are able to demand £7 million for Rhodes, then perhaps that price-tag would hint that Steve Bruce is keen to include the striker in his plans for next season.
He has shown that he can be a fantastic striker, particularly in the Championship, and there may be a team willing to take a chance. But for that price, it is definitely a gamble given that he has not reached double figures for league goals since his time at Blackburn Rovers.
So perhaps Bruce is hoping that the asking price puts his admirers off and hands him the opportunity to work with the striker next season.
