Could the Sheffield Wednesday striker be set for a move to Sunderland or Wolverhampton Wanderers?

Sheffield Wednesday want £10 million for Jordan Rhodes with Sunderland and Wolverhampton Wanderers set to ‘battle it out’ for the striker’s signing, The Mirror reports on page 50 of its printed edition.

The Telegraph had previously claimed the Owls wanted £7 million for Rhodes, who only completed a permanent move to Hillsborough in July.

But it would appear as though Wednesday are looking to recoup the £10 million they are said to have paid for the Scotland international, despite him scoring just five goals in 25 appearances since his January arrival.

Sunderland and Wolves are just two of the clubs linked with moves for Rhodes, with another loan deal even speculated.

But Wednesday are conscious of breaching the Football League’s financial fair play rules as they seek their own signings ahead of Thursday’s deadline, and a temporary move would be of little benefit to the Owls.

Wolves sold Nouha Dicko to Hull City on Tuesday, freeing up space for another striker. But according to The Express & Star, there is no offer currently on the table for Rhodes from Molineux.

And The Shields Gazette reports that Sunderland, whose manager Simon Grayson managed Rhodes at Huddersfield, may have to rely on loan signings unless players are sold inside the next 36 hours.

Will Rhodes be a Sheffield Wednesday player come Friday?
