Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly closing in on the Newcastle United pair.

Steve Bruce is now at the helm at Hillsborough after taking some time away from the game. And he appears to be determined to make up for what may feel like lost time.
It has been a quiet window for the Championship side, but they are now looking set to complete a couple of late deals. Sky Sports reports on their live transfer blog (31/1; 16:55) that Aarons and Lazaar are close to joining Wednesday on loan for the rest of the season.
It would not be a surprise if Owls fans were somewhat sceptical about the potential double deal. Neither have enjoyed particularly good spells under Rafa Benitez, with Aarons spending much of the first-half of the campaign out on loan in the Czech Republic.

Lazaar has played for the under-23s at St James’ Park this term. And it is perhaps quite telling that Benitez has preferred to use Matt Ritchie at left-back instead of Lazaar since Paul Dummett has been injured.
The pair have the talent to make an impact at Hillsborough if Bruce can get the best out of them. But they certainly have plenty to prove if they do make the switch before the deadline.
