Sheffield Wednesday’s Lucas Joao is being targeted by the Owls’ Championship rivals Wigan Athletic.
A report in the Daily Mail has suggested that Wigan Athletic are interested in signing Sheffield Wednesday striker Lucas Joao this month, and a bid has been prepared for the 23-year-old.
Joao has struggled since moving to Hillsborough from Nacional in 2015, scoring just six times in 50 Championship games for the Owls.

Nevertheless, the Mail suggests that Latics boss Warren Joyce has earmarked the Portuguese as a player who could perhaps boost the club’s hopes of beating the drop in the second tier.
Wigan are currently outside the relegation zone, but their situation is still very precarious. They are only above Burton Albion – the team currently occupying the final spot in the bottom three – on goal difference and are the lowest scorers in the entire division.
And while it remains to be seen how Carlos Carvalhal would respond to any approach, it is difficult to imagine that many Owls fans will be too disappointed to see Joao move on this month.

Though he has made more league appearances for the club as a substitute than as a starter, his record is simply not good enough to compete with the other forwards they have within their squad.
And with his first-team chances potentially becoming even bleaker in the remaining days of the window – Sky Sports reports that Sheffield Wednesday have seen a bid rejected for Middlesbrough’s Jordan Rhodes – it seems difficult to imagine that Carvalhal will have too many concerns about letting Joao move elsewhere.
