According to the Daily Mail, Sheffield Wednesday are lining up a shock move to bring in Alan Pardew whether they win promotion or not.
The Owls have reached the Championship play-offs for a second season in a row under Carlos Carvalhal, and they drew the first leg of they play-off clash with Huddersfield Town 0-0 on Sunday.
Whilst he was the surprise choice for the Wednesday job in the summer of 2015, Carvalhal – who spent three years out of the game before arriving at Hillsborough – has proven his doubters wrong so far.
Carvalhal will be hoping to see off Huddersfield in Wednesday’s second leg, but reports now suggest that he could be on his way out of the club this summer.

The Daily Mail report that Wednesday are interested in appointing Alan Pardew as their new manager, regardless of what division they are in, in what would be a real shock move from the Owls.
It’s claimed that, after spending around £25million on new signings under Carvalhal, Wednesday feel that they have somewhat underachieved under the Portuguese boss this season, and could move on to Pardew.

The 55-year-old has been out of work since losing his job as Crystal Palace manager, and he could be looking for a return to management this summer, with Wednesday potentially offering him a route back into the game.
The timing of such rumours is potentially troubling for Wednesday given that they have their biggest game of the season less than 48 hours away, but speculation over Carvalhal’s future has been rife over the last week, with The Independent claiming last week that Southampton are interested in his services.
