Sheffield Wednesday are expected to complete the signing of Cardiff City winger Kadeem Harris despite Middlesbrough’s attempts to lure him to the Riverside, according to The Star.

The 26-year-old is set to become a free agent when his Bluebirds contract expires at the end of the month. But Harris should not have to wait long for a new club with two of the Championship’s biggest sides expressing an interest.

Sheffield Wednesday are crying out for additions in wide areas after the departures of George Boyd, Marco Mattias and Rolando Aarons and The Star claims that Harris has been a target for at least 12 months.

What’s more, manager Steve Bruce is apparently also a big fan of the jet-heeled wide man, who started just three Premier League games for Cardiff last season.

The Star reports that talks between the two parties are progressing well as the one-time Wycombe Wanderers starlet edges closer to a move to Hillsborough.

This is despite the fact that Middlesbrough have also shown an interest. A lack of creativity, pace and firepower cost Boro dear last season as they missed out on the play-offs with fans expressing plenty of derision over a dull style of football.

Harris would have provided at least some degree of excitement but it seems likely that Middlesbrough will miss out.
