Tottenham Hotspur could be considering a bid for Zungu, who has been watched by Sheffield Wednesday’s first team coach.

Vitoria Guimaraes midfielder Bongani Zungu is attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Soccer Laduma reports.
The South Africa international was recently linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday and is said to have been the subject of a £5.3 million bid from an unnamed English club this week.
But it is now claimed Tottenham could be considering a move for the 24-year-old, having continued to watch him since first showing an interest in 2015.
Zungu has been capped 20 times by his country, but is unlikely to qualify for a work permit to play in the UK based on South Africa’s current position outside of FIFA’s top 50 ranked sides.
But Soccer Laduma reports that if the transfer fee and his wages are big enough, he could be granted a move via the FA’s Exceptions Panel, as was the case with Stoke City’s Egyptian winger Ramadan Sobhi in 2016.

It remains to be seen which club made the bid for Zungu, and Sheffield Wednesday coach Lee Bullen insisted on Thursday that while he has watched the player in action through Wyscout, he is unaware whether or not the Owls are in fact interested.

Nevertheless, given Tottenham’s superior resources, they are perhaps more likely than Wednesday to be successful in bringing Zungu to English football.
