Sheffield Wednesday, along with West Bromwich Albion and Reading, are being linked with a move for the Ipswich Town manager.

Sheffield Wednesday are keeping an eye on Mick McCarthy’s situation at Ipswich Town, while West Bromwich Albion ‘might’ add the Yorkshireman to their list of potential appointments should they go down – according to the Daily Mail.
The report leads with Reading’s interest in McCarthy, but goes on to list Wednesday and West Brom as alternative destinations for the 59-year-old.
McCarthy is said to be facing an uncertain future at Ipswich, where he is out of contract in the summer and growing increasingly unpopular despite an impressive record on a tight budget.
The Yorkshireman, who grew up around 15 miles north of Sheffield in Barnsley, has not exactly endeared himself to Wednesday supporters either down the years.

The Owls only recently appointed Jos Luhukay as manager, and it is fair to say the Dutchman is finding the role tough going, with 10 first team players yet to play for him due to injury. Therefore, any decision to sack him would likely be deemed harsh by the Hillsborough faithful.
The Daily Mail’s report suggests that any move for McCarthy would come at the end of the season – a time at which West Brom may already have a new manager in place, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper reported on Sunday that Alan Pardew’s Baggies future could hinge on the result of Saturday’s Premier League visit to Watford.
West Brom are perhaps unlikely to consider McCarthy – whose six-year stint at rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers may too spark supporter resistance – if they avoid relegation.
