Pelupessy could become Sheffield Wednesday’s first signing under compatriot Jos Luhukay.

Sheffield Wednesday are in negotiations with Heracles Almelo over the transfer of the Dutch side’s captain Joey Pelupessy [pictured above, left], according to Netherlands-based newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.
Pelupessy, a 24-year-old defensive midfield player, is out of contract in six months’ time and is said to have been recently denied a move to New York City FC.
But a chance for the former Netherlands Under-20 international to continue his career in the second tier of English football with Sheffield Wednesday, who recently appointed Jos Luhukay – another Dutchman of Indonesian descent – as manager, could prove difficult for Heracles to block.

Wednesday are currently without a number of players in Pelupessy’s position, including key men Sam Hutchinson, Kieran Lee and Barry Bannan.
And at a press conference on Monday, Luhukay refused to put a date on when any of the above might return to action.

Pelupessy [pictured above, left] began his career at FC Twente, for whom he made seven appearances before transferring to Heracles in July 2014.
Would Pelupessy be a good signing for Sheffield Wednesday?
