Kadeem Harris will be released by Cardiff City this month but is he set to join Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday?

Sheffield Wednesday are hoping to sign Kadeem Harris on a free transfer and have held talks with the Cardiff City ace, according to The Star.

A new winger is a top priority for Owls boss Steve Bruce heading into the transfer window. Rolando Aarons has returned to Newcastle United after an impressive loan spell while both George Boyd and Marco Matias have been released.

And Harris would certainly fit the bill.

The 26-year-old is set to become a free agent when his contract expires at the end of this month. And The Star reports that Wednesday are keen to snap up a player who has plenty of Championship appearance on his CV.

Harris looked set to play a big role in Cardiff’s first team last season and earned plenty of praise from manager Neil Warnock after scoring a brilliant goal in a 4-2 win against Fulham back in the autumn.

“I didn’t think I’d ever play him if I’m honest,” Warnock told the BBC of a player who moved to South Wales from Wycombe Wanderers in 2012. “At the start of the season I didn’t, but he’s just changed my mind. He deserves it.

“He’s been the best player in training for the last six weeks, he’s been an absolute breath of fresh air for me as a manager.

“I’ve had no option but to bring him into the squad.”

Harris struggled to build on that breakthrough, however, and ended the 2018/19 campaign with just three Premier League starts as Cardiff failed to stave off the threat of relegation.

And he could relish the prospect of playing regular first-team football again under Steve Bruce at Wednesday.
