There had been repeated rumours that Wednesday would be looking to sack their manager, but it now seems he will be staying.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal will sign a new contract with the club, putting an end to rumours that he will be either sacked by owner Dejphon Chansiri or leave on his own accord, as reports the Sheffield Star.
The 51-year-old would have been out of contract at Hillsborough in a few weeks and the Telegraph reported that Carvalhal would’ve been sacked if the club failed to win promotion, while the Daily Mail claimed that even if Wednesday won promotion, the club would replace him with Alan Pardew.
Ultimately, Wednesday lost on penalties to Huddersfield Town in the play-offs after drawing 1-1 on aggregate, meaning for the second season running, the play-offs proved to be a cruel mistress for Carvalhal and the Owls.
It seems that he’ll be given another chance to get Wednesday out of the Championship in the correct manner, and with a 46.2% win ratio, it’s very easy to see why Chansiri has opted to give Carvalhal a new deal at Hillsborough.

Equally however, it would have been logical to an extent had Chansiri decided that two play-off failures was enough reason to not renew Carvalhal’s deal, and he – like all Wednesday fans – will be hoping that it’s third time lucky next season.
Despite having a scare with a few games to play, Wednesday turned on the style and finished fourth in the Championship – an improvement on sixth the year before, and were seven points better off this season.
