Coventry will reportedly lose defender Jordan Willis with Portsmouth battling Championship quartet Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County, Hull and Bristol City.
Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County are among the clubs looking to sign Coventry City defender Jordan Willis this summer, according to the Coventry Live.
A player who left Birmingham City as a youngster, Willis has been contracted to the Sky Blues since 2011 and he is now a first-team regular under Mark Robins. The England U19 international has made 38 League One appearances this season with his ability to play anywhere across the backline earning him plenty of admirers.
According to the Coventry Live, Willis is now ready to test himself in the Championship and Coventry are resigned to losing their prized asset, having failed to tie him down to a new deal with his current contract expiring in July.
The report adds that Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County have expressed an interest with Hull, Bristol City and Portsmouth also keen.
“Jordan’s a really good player,” Robins said.
“He has given a lot of brilliant service.
“If he stays, he stays but if he doesn’t I have always said I will shake his hand and wish him all the best because he’s been a brilliant servant.”
If Derby win the race for Willis, the 24-year-old could be tasked with replacing The Rams’ Player of the Year Fikayo Tomori, who is expected to return to parent club Chelsea.
