According to a report from Sky Sports, Sheffield United are unlikely to allow George Baldock to leave Bramall Lane this summer as Celtic attempt to lure the full-back to Parkhead.

The Hoops certainly appear to need at least one new right-back this summer, with Cristian Gamboa looking set to move on and questions remaining regarding whether Mikael Lustig will still be with the Scottish Premiership champions next season.

And it appears that the man that Neil Lennon wants is Baldock, who helped the Blades secure automatic-promotion to the Premier League this past season, making 27 appearances for Chris Wilder’s men.

Sky Sports reports that an approach has been made for the 26-year-old, but Sheffield United are unlikely to let a move take place – despite Baldock heading towards the final year of his contract with the Yorkshire side.

It would be a fantastic piece of business if Celtic could land Baldock, who was extremely influential during the Blades’ promotion-winning season.

But it is no surprise that United appear determined to keep the former MK Dons man in their ranks ahead of their top flight return. And it seemingly leaves Celtic having to consider alternative targets to fill that void ahead of next season.
