The Sheffield United manager, Chris Wilder, is ready to test Nottingham Forest’s resolve over Ben Osborn, according to the Mirror (July 23, page 50).

The newspaper claims that Wilder will table a £5 million offer for the Forest midfielder, having had a £3m bid rejected.

But it adds that the new Nottingham Forest manager, Sabri Lamouchi, is keen to keep Osborn at the club whose academy ranks he progressed through.

Osborn recently entered the final year of his contract, however, and the Star reported last week that he is attracted by the prospect of playing Premier League football with Sheffield United.

The 24-year-old could become Wilder’s sixth summer signing, after Luke Freeman, Phil Jagielka, Callum Robinson, Ravel Morrison and Lys Mousset.

Mark Duffy of Sheffield United during the Sky Bet Championship match between Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday at Bramall Lane on November 9, 2018 in Sheffield, England.

But one of last season’s promotion heroes, Mark Duffy, could be on his way out of Bramall Lane, according to the Mail.

Freeman, Robinson, Morrison and Osborn can all play in Duffy’s position, although the Nottingham Forest player tends to operate in a deeper, or left-side midfield role and can also provide left-back cover.

Will Osborn leave Nottingham Forest for Sheffield United this summer?
