Sheffield United will have no qualms about paying the £22.5 million fee required to sign Emmanuel Dennis this summer, according to Voetbal Belgie.
As recently as January, Chris Wilder’s Blades broke their transfer record to make a Belgian-based starlet the most expensive signing in the club’s 131-year history.
And while Dennis would not cost quite as much as Sander Berge, the Nigerian international certainly won’t come cheap either.
Reports in Europe suggest that Club Brugge want £22.5 million for their star man. But while big-money transfers are likely to be in short supply during a market beset by an era of unprecedented financial uncertainty, do not be surprised if Dennis ends the summer dressed up in red and white.
Voetbal Belgie reports that Sheffield United would have no concerns about meeting Brugge’s hefty price-tag.
22-year-old Dennis is not the most prolific of forwards, netting just nine times in 33 games, but a couple of eye-catching displays against elite opposition have had scouts from all over England flocking to Brugge in recent months.
Dennis exploded onto the scene with a stunning, if rather fortuitous, double away at the Santiago Bernabau last autumn before lifting a stunning lob into Manchester United’s net during a recent Europa League clash.
And, blessed with explosive pace and the ability to run in behind the opposition backline, Dennis promises to offer something different to Sheffield United’s rather one-dimensional frontline.
