Burnley and Southampton have been linked with former Sheffield United man Che Adams.
According to a report in The Daily Mail, Burnley have joined Southampton in the race to sign Birmingham City’s Che Adams with Sheffield United due a potential sell-on fee.
The report in the Daily Mail claims Burnley are considering a late move for Adams, but Blues boss Garry Monk will demand a high fee due to the club’s financial constraints and the sell-on clause owing the Blades.
Adams has been in terrific form for the Blues this season, scoring 14 Championship goals and grabbing a further three assists.
The 22-year-old is pivotal to how Birmingham operate as he leads the line alongside Lukas Jutkiewicz, and his goals have propelled the Midlands side up the table and not too far off the top six. Adams’ contract at Birmingham expires in 2022.
Burnley will be looking to bolster their attacking options as they seek to preserve their Premier League status, and adding Adams would give them a different option to the likes of Sam Vokes and Matej Vydra.
With Burnley joining the fold, it only spells good news for promotion-chasing Sheffield United as they would be due a cash windfall from any sale, therefore they will be welcoming further top-flight competition for the player.
The Blades are currently third in the Championship table, three points behind second-placed Norwich City.
