Sheffield United have reportedly made several offers for the Blackburn Rovers product.

Sheffield United have seen an improved bid of £1.5 million for Blackburn Rovers defender Darragh Lenihan turned down, Sky Sports reports.

Lenihan played 40 times for Blackburn last season, but could not prevent Tony Mowbray’s team from relegation to League One on goal difference.

According to Sky Sports, the Blades had two offers – one in the region of of £400,000 and another of £500,000 plus add-ons – knocked back by the Lancashire side last month.

And while United have since signed centre-back Richard Stearman from Fulham, it would appear they are still keen to strengthen in that department.

Had the Blades’ bid been accepted, it would have been the club’s biggest outlay since John Brayford’s transfer from Cardiff City in January 2015, which cost the Championship newcomers £1.96 million according to Transfermarkt.

United are not the only Sheffield based club to be snubbed by Blackburn in recent weeks, with rivals Wednesday unsuccessful in their attempts to land Lenihan’s defensive partner Charlie Mulgrew, according to Sky Sports.

Should Sheffield United increase their offer for Blackburn’s Lenihan?
