Sheffield United still keen to push through loan move for Scott Hogan but Aston Villa want to sign a replacement first.

Hogan is manager Chris Wilder’s preferred choice to fill the vacant striker role in his squad and the Blades believe Steve Bruce is open to allowing the 26-year-old to leave on a temporary deal in order to speed up his recovery from injury.
However, there is one problem for United in the fact that the Villans want to replace the Irishman before allowing him to leave – according to Birmingham Live.
Bruce had been keen to bring Tammy Abraham to the Birmingham club on loan, but the youngster has rejected the offer and instead wants to stay and fight for his place at Chelsea.

This creates an issue for Wilder, because unless Villa can find an alternative to Abraham, they want to keep hold of Hogan with Jonathan Kodjia their only recognised senior forward currently due to injuries.
Yet the fact that Bruce does want to bring in an alternative makes the Sheffield side confident that they can broker a deal before the loan window closes on Friday (August 31).
