Premier League newcomers Norwich City and Sheffield United are reportedly battling Championship play-off finalists Derby County for the goalkeeper.

Premier League newcomers Sheffield United and Norwich City are interested in signing HNK Rijeka’s rising star Simon Sluga, according to Goal, with Derby County also in the mix.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper’s stock could hardly be higher right now. He is on the verge of a first ever appearance for the Croatia national team and wrote his name into Rijeka folklore by saving a penalty in their Cup final triumph over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday.
But with just 12 months left on his contract, Sluga’s time in the Croatian top flight appears to be coming to an end – particularly given that his price tag has been set at a bargain £1.8 million.
Norwich stormed to the Championship title last season but doubts remain about whether the erratic Tim Krul can be trusted in the top flight. Sheffield United, meanwhile, apparently see Sluga as a potential addition if they fail to bring Dean Henderson back to Bramall Lane from Manchester United.

Derby’s hopes could rest on whether they beat Aston Villa in the Championship play-off final on Monday.
With veteran Scott Carson facing an uncertain future, Sluga could be a ready-made successor.
